Abstract

Breast cancer is a malignancy of breast tissue that can originate from the epithelium of the ducts or lobules. Based on Pathological Based Registration in Indonesia, KPD ranks first with a relative frequency of 18.6. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of health promotion on knowledge about BSE in pkk mothers. This type of research is quantitative with a pre experimental design method using one group pretest posttest design. Population of 40 pkk mothers in Madiun Regency. Sample 36 pkk mothers with accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire which was analyzed by using paired t-test. The results of the study most of the level of knowledge of mothers before getting health promotion about early detection of breast cancer, namely having less knowledge as much as 47.23% and after health promotion the knowledge of pkk mothers was mostly from pkk mothers, which was 58.34%. The statistical test used paired t-test with a p value of 0.001 showed that there was an increase in maternal knowledge after getting health promotion with the demonstration method.There was an increase in knowledge of pkk mothers after BSE health education was carried out using demonstration methods and pkk mothers became more aware about BSE. Suggestions for pkk mothers assisted by health workers are expected to be able to pass on the knowledge gained about BSE to the community in Kepet Village so that breast cancer can be detected early.
