Abstract

Diuretics are substances that can increase urinary output (diuresis) due to direct efficacy of the kidneys. Diuretics are compounds that can increase urine volume and work to increase the excretion of Na +, Cl- ions, which are the main electrolytes in fluid outside the cell. One type of plant that is thought to have efficacy as a diuretic is Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) which belongs to the family Malvaceae. What acts as a diuretic in rosella flowers is an anthocyanin substance, this substance is one type of flavonoid compound. This study aims to determine the diuretic effect of rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) flower extract on white male mice (Mus Musculus). This study is a laboratory experimental study with the design of the post test only control group design. The test animals used were 25 male white mice with a body weight of 20-30 grams. Test animals were divided into 5 groups, namely the negative control group (CMC 0.5%), positive control group (Furosemide 0,13 mg), rosella flower extract group at a dose of 25 mg / kgBB, 50 mg / kgBB, and 100 mg / kgBB. Urine volume measurement is carried out after administration of the treatment in the test group and observed every 2 hours for 6 hours. Sheet from the research results were analyzed by ANOVA test and post hoc test. The results of the analysis showed that there were significant differences in urine volume produced by each concentration with a value of p = 0.00 (p <0.05). The results of this study indicate that rosella flower extract at a dose of 100 mg / kgBB has a more optimal diuretic effect on male mice, rather than a dose of rosella flower extract 25 mg/kgBB and 50 m/kgBB.
